Tony Robbins – Personal Power II – Day 1

Deb Bauer asked:

Day I

Tony basically outlined the next 30 days. How to use the system was explained, as well as going over the main points of the course. There was nothing really earth-shatteringly new to me, but hearing the basics and understanding the importance of discovering why we do what we do. Ah, that, I believe is the crux of developing the power and the momentum to be able to make better choices.

The idea is to make simple, small daily changes and thereby absolutely transform the quality of life.

Most people focus on small things and that’s what they manifest. BUT, if you focus on the big things and ask more of yourself, you end up getting the small things covered by default.

Inspiration or desperation can be motivating forces. The point is to rejoice in being uncomfortable. Why? Because if we are comfortable, there’s no reason to change. It’s so easy to just watch one more program, or look at one more website. However, realizing that we’re uncomfortable helps give the push to make changes.

I have been uncomfortable. Today, I am less so. Why? Because I see this as a way to make a different choice; to decide to not accept where I’ve been any longer.

Repetition is the mother of skill and I’m inspired to tap into the power I knew I had (or at least suspected I had – in spite of what other people told me. ) They were wrong.

Power is the ability to act. It’s not reading more and more self-help books (as in finding another guru or another system to learn about as being the solution for the problem). It’s about taking action on the things we already know. Read later – after the thirty days.

That builds momentum, which in turn builds confidence, which enables even more action to be taken, leading to a quicker learning curve.

Well, what about mistakes? There will be plenty: far more than successes, but it is a learning process. Each mistake is really another lesson learned. What can be gathered from each one? What can be improved for the next time?

The Success Formula is Simple:

1). Know your desired outcome.

2). Take action by deciding.

3). Notice what results those actions produce.

4). Change your approach and keep going until you get there.

Tony went into depth about each of these components and I found that just reading them over a few times really helped solidify them in my brain.

Well, there are daily exercises to do and today’s had to do with doing two things that we had been putting off. Initially, I couldn’t decide what to do, since my list of procrastinating things was rather long. After about a minute (another skill I’m learning is to decide quickly… no more than 60 seconds), I chose the two things I would do today. Neither was terribly difficult, but I completed them this afternoon and I feel better. Making quick decisions is a valuable habit to develop as it helps one increase and maintain momentum.

And we all know how cool momentum is.

So, how was your day? What points struck you? Ready for Day 2?

Onward.

Tony Robbins – The Power of Questions

George E Walters asked:

“Questions provide the key to unlocking our unlimited potential,” says Robbins. “Quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.”

It is in being honest with yourself and having an open internal dialogue that you will place yourself on the path to success. “You and I have that same power at our disposal every moment of the day,” says Robbins. “At the moment, the questions that we ask ourselves can shape our perception of who we are, what we’re capable of, and what we’re willing to do to achieve our dreams.”

How do you really want to live?
What gets you most excited?
When do you feel stuck?
What kind of person will you have to become in order to achieve all that you want?

These are some of the questions Robbins suggests you ask yourself and answer honestly. “The genuine quality of life comes from consistent, quality questions,” says Robbins. If you ask yourself a great question, your mind will automatically focus on finding better answers and solutions. Conversely, “If you ask a terrible question, you’ll get a terrible answer,” he says. “Your mental computer is ever ready to serve you, and whatever question you give it, it will surely come up with an answer.”

Throughout his career, Robbins has been driven by a single question – what makes the difference in the quality of people’s lives? He has since come to realize that it is what we ask of ourselves and how well we look inside to find the answers that plays a key role. Not only does this help us understand our own internal motivations, but it also helps provide focus to our thoughts.

Every night before going to sleep, Robbins suggests asking yourself the following three questions:
What have I learned today?
What have I enjoyed today?
What have I improved or contributed today?

Simple questions, yet with powerful effects. “Most people never feel secure because they are always worried that they will lose their job, lose the money they already have, lose their spouse, lose their health, and so on,” says Robbins. “The only true security in life comes from knowing that every single day you are improving yourself in some way, that you are increasing the caliber of who you are and that you are valuable to your company, your friends, and your family.” In asking yourself the above three questions, you can work on improving yourself each and every day.

Every individual has the right to live a life of fulfillment and questions are the key to opening that door.

“The power was given to you at the moment you were born,” says Robbins. “Its source is unlimited. And when you seize it, you’ll have everything you need to create a life filled with more passion, excitement, confidence, and joy than you’ve ever dreamed. Isn’t it time to unleash the power within and claim your extraordinary potential?”

This fast paced 7 minute video will enlighten you on the Power of asking yourself the right questions. Putting this simple but extremely powerful concept to work in your own life will change your life in ways you never thought possible.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr7Wkz7W7Vs

This short video below has some examples of what we ask ourselves and by simply changing the question you are instantly empowered.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h7Sc53ZbHE

The Power Of Questions Questions are an excellent way to access your subconscious mind, and the process is a simple one.

Suppose you are in a situation where you want to make a good impression. You walk up to the person you want to impress and blurt out a tactless remark. Instantly you realize what you’ve done.

If you ask yourself a negative question like, “Why am I always such an idiot?” your brain will come up with all sorts of reasons in order to answer that question. This is of absolutely no help to you, either in the present situation or at any time in your life.

If instead you ask yourself, “How can I recover from this mess?” your brain will sort through your memory banks to come up with some strategies to redeem your blunder.

In other words, your brain will always present an answer to any question you ask yourself. The answer may not necessarily be true, but your brain feels obligated to respond to your questions and will do its best to present you with some kind of answer, whether feasible or not.

How can you use this brain function to improve your life?

Train yourself to ask only positive questions.
Questions like “Why am I so talented?” and “How did I get to be so lucky?” will give you far more positive results than those that presuppose a critical answer. Often the brain recognizes that many of these questions are rhetorical, in other words they don’t actually require an answer, but the impact is still positive. The questions imply that you are talented or you are lucky, thereby reinforcing the notion. In this sense they function the same way as affirmations.

WHY Questions
Asking, “Why do I always fail?” will inevitably lead to answers like “Because you’re a loser!”
“How can I succeed in this venture?” will lead to creative and useful answers.
Why questions are often circular in nature and are not utilized in this particular process. Replace them with questions like *How can I do this? *What do I need to do next? *When do I need to finish this? *Where do I need to be right now? *What do I need to learn here?

Daily Questions
Anthony Robbins popularized the use of questions in his excellent tape programs, Personal Power and Personal Power II. Tony devised three sets of questions: one for mornings, one for night, and another set to use when dealing with problems throughout the day.

1. The Morning Questions
Answer the following questions every morning to set yourself up for a positive day.

1.What am I most happy about in my life right now? What about that makes me happy? How does that make me feel? (Repeat these two secondary questions after each main question)
2.What am I most excited about in my life right now?
3.What am I most proud of in my life right now?
4.What am I most grateful for in my life right now?
5.What am I enjoying most in my life right now?
6.What am I most committed to in my life right now?
7.Who do I love? Who loves me?

2. The Evening Questions
Ask yourself these questions at the end of each day before sleep.

1.What have I given today?
2.What did I learn today?
3.How has today added to my life?
4.How can I use today as an investment in my future?
5.What did I do today towards reaching my goals?
6.Optional: Add the morning questions.

3. The Problem Solving Questions
These questions are helpful when working towards a goal and/or encountering an obstacle.

1.What do I need to do today towards reaching my goals?
2.How can I become successful and enjoy the process?
3.What can I learn from this experience?
4.What do I respect about this person?
5.What’s actually funny about this situation that I haven’t noticed before?
6.What’s great in my life right now?
7.How can I make this happen right now and enjoy the process?

The three sets of questions can be printed in a large font on separate sheets of paper and displayed in your work space.

This valuable lesson comes from notes taken while spending 2 weeks in Kona Hawaii At one of Tony’s seminars,

So I want to give thanks to Tony Robbins
Respectfully, George Walters

Anthony Robbins Diet Likes The Alkaline Diet – Tips I Got From Tony Robbins

Ben A Dixon asked:

The Anthony Robbins diet is called the alkaline diet. Anthony “Tony” Robbins, is a well known book author and a proponent of optimal performance, health and energy, overcoming fears, persuasive communication, and enhancing relationships. He is also a big advocate of the alkaline diet. That is why the alkaline diet is also known as the Anthony Robbins diet.

Before I knew about alkaline diet I was very miserable. I turned 31 and I felt always tired and low on energy. I always felt sick and tired, I had aches and pains in my joints and muscles, I had intermittent memory loss, I was always depressed, and I felt a general sense of illness. I turned to my doctor for help. He told me that I needed to change my lifestyle and get into a great diet system. Just so I can trim down my fat and get rid of all the symptoms of premature aging that I was feeling.

Here are some of the things I did to get my health back on track.

1. I alkalized my water. I put lemon or lime in my water to alkalize it. Lemon and lime are great to make your water alkaline. With this process alone, you will feel better in just under a week.

2. I got into sports. I really love watching basketball, so when I have the time I tried to actually play the game I love to watch. I do pick up games with my friends and we just play half-court basketball. Now, I can play 48 minutes of whole court basketball. Sports really improved my energy, agility, and strength.

3. I ate healthy. I added fruits and vegetables in my diet. Fruits and vegetables are healthy foods that can provide the needed vitamins and minerals in our body the natural way. They are also great for detoxifying our body.

I did all of this and in just a week I felt better and healthier. I performed better at home and at work. I even performed better in sports. All this is due to the Anthony Robbins diet a.k.a. the alkaline diet. I balanced out the acidity of my body and so my body is stronger and feels younger than it has ever been.

Is Tony Robbins a Scam? Decide For Yourself With This Review

Ken Breeden asked:

Motivational gurus are an entirely new species born out of the requirements of the current evolutionary stage of man. And one of the most typical examples of this modern species is Tony Robbins. He is a corporate motivational speaker and self help coach, very much in demand across the globe, besides being a philanthropist helping to feed millions across the world. His Anthony Robbins Foundation is also involved in other humanitarian activities like helping senior citizens and troubled teens. However, Tony Robbins had to take flak for some of his ideas and let us see if there is any basis in what is known as the Tony Robbins Scam.

His motivational seminars, infomercials, and audio programs are very popular and have been attended by millions who claim to have been able to make it better in life by his persuasion. Business conglomerates vie with each other to have him address their staff. He delves deeply into subjects like self realization, self help, improving relationships, neuro-linguistic programming, hypnosis, and individual health. One of his most notable contributions to the field of self-improvement is his work ‘Unlimited Power.’

He prefers to be known as a ‘peak performance coach’ rather than as a motivational guru. He is able to build up rapport with people very easily and that is one of the secrets of his success. He is able to show them a pattern in any apparent chaos. Of his different types of seminars, the four day seminar known as ‘Unleash the Power Within’ is very popular. His philosophy is that there is precious little that man cannot do and that he is simply inhibited by lack of self-esteem and social conditioning. A success coach like Tony Robbins works as a catalyst, goading people in the right direction, and by helping them to unleash their own dormant powers. He is the link connecting people’s dreams and its realization.

However, everybody does not appreciate his way of functioning. There are enough people in the world who can motivate themselves, and do not need to pay through their nose to listen to Tony Robbins to get that ‘high.’ Tony has also come under heavy criticism for the fire-walking that his trainees are encouraged to do. Some of his claims made at the seminar have been challenged and his statement of hertz as a unit of energy has been thoroughly disapproved of. There were also lawsuits against him. Everything that he did may not be desirable but undesirable arenas are not so much as to tag his seminars as a Tony Robbins Scam.

Anthony Robbins’ Laws of Success – Part Three – Focus on What You Want, Not on What You Don’t Want

Nancy Stremmel asked:

Anthony Robbins tells a powerful story of learning to drive a race car. His teacher taught that one of the most important lessons is how to come out of a skid.

Apparently, most people focus on where they don’t want to go rather than on where they do want to go. When Anthony Robbins’ turn to skid came up, he knew he was supposed to keep his sights on the road ahead, but he couldn’t help but look at the wall. His instructor physically turned his head to be facing back along the road. The car wheels caught, and straightened, and they managed to continue along the track without nearing the wall. The next time, a verbal reminder to Anthony Robbins was enough. The third time, Robbins was able to remind himself.

He describes this as building muscles. We need to build our “goal facing muscles” so that they can withstand any skidding and still not look at the wall.

So, this is true in our lives, and we know it. When we focus on the unpaid bills, we aren’t able to pay them. When we focus on the extra money coming in, more comes in. Whhooo, hooo. Keep building your goal facing muscles.

Ask the Right Question

Matthew said, “Ask and you will receive. Seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.” And, in any study of success, inspiration always plays a big part.

Anthony Robbins tells a story of a Krakow Death Camp escapee. His name was Stanislavsky Lech, and when his home was stormed and the Nazis herded him with his family into Krakow, he watched as they were all murdered. He was put to work. Eventually, he was weak and starving, in addition to his grief, and a thought crossed his mind that he would not survive one more day in Krakow.

He changed his question from “How can there be such a terrible place” to “How can we escape from such a place?” At first the answer was the same, “There is no escape.” He kept asking in slightly different ways, “How can I do it?”

Soon, he smelled rotting flesh a few feet from where he was working, and noticed that the bodies of those who had been recently gassed were piled into the back of a truck. Again, he changed the “How can God allow this to happen?” to “How can I use this to help me escape?”

When he returned from work the next evening, the truck was there. He pulled off his clothes when no one was looking and, pretending to be dead, climbed into the pile of dead bodies. He waited while the cold of the corpses pressed against him, and the smell invaded his body. The ride to the open grave wasn’t long, and he was dumped along with the others. He waited until it had been quiet for some time before he dared to look around.

They were gone. He got up and ran, naked, 25 miles to freedom that night.

He was able to free himself, in part, because he asked a different question. Our intuition, or higher self, will always answer our questions. Just as it is helpful to know what we really want, it is also helpful to know where we could use some help.

Questions can put you in a better state of mind:

Not only will questions be answered, but in the meantime they can help you have a better outlook on life.

One of Anthony Robbins’ favorite morning power questions is

“What am I happy about in my life right now? What about this makes me happy? How does that make me feel?”

He suggests that if your answer is “nothing”, then change the “am I” to a “could I be”. This is a device that allows you to imagine yourself in a place where you are happy.

A question should always be in the present tense. It is only our most mundane and stressed level of consciousness that even knows about time. We’re always asking our more evolved, higher self level of consciousness for help. Our higher self is another name for our soul self. One of its helpers is our intuition.

Anthony Robbins’ question above sets you up. It puts you in a good state; an open state of abundance. It makes you grateful for past gifts. We can now ask our intuition for inspiraton:

- on creative endeavors,

- for settling disputes,

- for a way out of difficult situations or

- for next steps.

We only need to ask one time, because this is a demonstration of belief. As long as our request is in our best interest, it will be answered in a big way. The answer will not always be obvious, but it will be persistent.

Intuition speaks clearly, but succinctly. It will never come with an argument or historical persuasion. (That would be your ego speaking.)

Focus on what you want, not on what you don’t want:

Remember, when you are formulating your question, to ask for what you want, rather than for what you don’t want. For example, you might say, “I request assistance in receiving an extra $2000 this month.” You wouldn’t say “What should I do?” because the answer will be “Whatever you want.” You wouldn’t ask “How can I pay my bills?” because the answer will be “with a check.” And worse, since you are focusing on bills, with emotion, you could manifest more bills. Or even worse, as Byron Katie points out, our higher self only wants us to be happy, so if the mortgage and the car payments are causing stress, the universe could take them away to solve this problem.

As Mike Dooley says, the Universe will always find the quickest, easiest way to answer us. You have to admit, the quickest way to pay a 30 year mortgage is to remove the mortgage altogether….

So, why is it that you want more money, if this is your wish? Focus on that. You want more employees? Focus on that. You want to send your child to camp for the summer? Focus on that. You want to make some improvements to your home? Focus on that.

More on manifesting at http://www.mindbridge-loa.com/manifesting-desires.html

Who is Tony Robbins – An in Depth View

Anil Madahar asked:

Most people these days know who Tony Robbins is. Self help guru, author of countless books on self improvement, including the best seller – Personal Power, and all round successful guy. What few people know however, is that Tony Robbins not only sells the idea that you can be whoever you want to be, and do whatever you want to be, he’s lived it too.

Humble Beginnings

On February 9, 1960, when Anthony J. Mahavorick was born in California, no one would have guessed that he would one day become the motivational guru that he eventually became, although, as he grew up in Azusa, there were signs of his future career as a public speaker. In fact, Robbins’ mother was quoted as mentioning his “big mouth” growing up. Thank goodness he never outgrew that!

But grow Anthony did! In fact, the six foot seven inches Robbins had developed a growth on his pituitary gland, which resulted in a rare disease called acromegaly, and was responsible for Robbins’ phenomenal growth spurts.
Health concerns, step fathers and other factors did not get Anthony down, however, and after taking on his step father, Jim Robbins’ name, and finished school at Glendora High School, he was ready for bigger things.

Early Career

Tony Robbins started out promoting seminars for Jim Rohn, where he had his first brush with NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming (self affirmation to the rest of us!) From there, he went on to learn about fire walking, and a host of other self improvement techniques.

When he did venture out on his own, it was not to immediate success, and Robbins himself admits, in his book, Unleash the Giant Within, that when he first started out, he was struggling to make the mortgage payments on his home! Robbins pushed on though, and success was to follow.

Today

Today, Robbins Research International is a multimillion dollar company, and Robbins is one of the most sought after self help coaches in the US, and indeed, the world, although he prefers the term “peak performance coach.”

He’s also gained some high profile connections, numbering the likes of Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, and Hollywood stars like Pamela Anderson and Anthony Hopkins among his friends. In short, the Anthony Robbins phenomena is a little like its own best commercial – if Tony Robbins himself could do it, it means that everyone who reads his books, or attends his seminars, has the same potential for success.

The road to his break out success has not been without trouble though, and there have been a few law suits along the way, some of which Robbins has won, and some that he’s lost. Through it all though, Robbins has maintained his positive outlook, and kept his eyes on the prize. That, in itself, should be a lesson to anyone who has big dreams, or lofty goals.

In short, Tony Robbins is a self made man, and when all is said and done, will probably be remembered in the same breath as other self help giants, like Napoleon Hill.
